Novec ™ 1230 - the latest elaboration in the market of gas fire extinguishing agents (GFEA), a product of 3M Company. It is designed to extinguish the electrical components, including a fire of combustible liquids and gases. Gases do not conduct electricity and GFEA extinguishes electrical, without prejudice, in contrast to the installation of water, foam and fire extinguishing. Novec ™ 1230 - the first "clean" gas for fire extinguishing. It is safe for humans and the environment.
Novec ™ 1230 - fluorinated ketone, chemical formula CF3CF3C (O) CF (CF3) 2. Under normal conditions, Novec is a colorless liquid dielectric which turns into a gaseous state at issue.
Extinguishing mechanism (click to enlarge) is based on 70% of the cooling effect - absorption of heat, and 30% is due to the chemical reaction of inhibition of flames.
