Access control system (ACS) is the integral part of a data center complex security. It allows you to regulate the terms and rules of access to various important data center facilities, e.g. to, server rooms, switching rooms, etc.
Access Control System includes the security and fire alarm systems and video control one. Also the ACS may include special software modules, which are addressing their specific tasks:
• permits office allows you to create database of users and to manage their access rights;
• photo identification unit allows you to show at security post monitor the cardholder photo, when he’s presenting his card-pass;
• working time accounting unit;
• special unit, that allows you to quickly obtain the summary information about selected visitors for a certain period of time.
Access control system allows:
• divide users into groups (e.g., management, employees, guards, visitors, etc.) and set the different access rights for the different groups;
• issue access card of various types;
• flexibly manage door lock and unlock functions;
• generate detailed reports about the facts of passes and attempts to intrude to the premises;
• monitor the system availability and communications integrity;
• monitor the status of security and fire alarm systems, automatically lock or unlock doors;
• issue permits on the basis of applications of prescribed electronic form.
The access control system is linked to all other modules of the integrated security complex that ensures effective responding for intrusion attempts. For example, when an attempt of unauthorized penetration into protected area is detected, the doors will be blocked, video signal recording from the nearest cameras will be started and alarming message will be sent to the operator.
